The questionnaire statistics are compiled from questionnaires submitted to us. Submitted questionnaires are not represented immediately within the results. Updates are made on a regular basis to reflect recent questionnaires. The date at the bottom of each statistics page indicates the last time the results were updated.

The questionnaire results are grouped into several categories, which can be viewed, on the main statistics menu page. Select any of these categories to view a breakdown based on questionnaire elements of that particular category.

If a category has several elements these are displayed at the top of each page. You may select any of the available elements to view statistics based on that element. You can clearly see which element is currently selected by the title and image displayed in the top right hand corner of the page.

The Country of Birth category is slightly different in that countries are grouped by continent in a drop-down menu.

If you have completed a questionnaire and your browser supports 'cookies' you will initially be shown the elements relevant to the selections you made in your questionnaire answers. Otherwise you will be directed to the first elements under each category. In both cases you are free to view any of the pages you wish.





Within each category and element the statistics are divided into six sections based on the main sections of the questionnaire. Again you may view each section by selecting from the list shown at the top of the page. The section currently selected is highlighted.

Most of the statistics pages are split into Female and Male results. These are shown on each half of the screen and are clearly indicated by the title at the beginning of the actual results. Questions are highlighted in bold with question responses displayed in normal font.

An indication of the number of questionnaires which are relevant to the displayed statistics is shown alongside the Male and Female banner at the top of each page. This is the maximum number of questionnaires which fit this category and element. The questions below may not have been answered by everyone so it is not an indication of the number of questionnaires for each question. However, it should be noted that the percentage figure is a true value calculated based on the actual number of individuals who completed that question and not the total number shown on the Male and Female banner.

Several non-category based statistics are also compiled showing figures on films, general crying reasons, work crying reasons and the top-five crying frequencies by category. These statistics are compiled from all of the questionnaires and are not broken down into any particular category or element.

You can return to the main statistics menu page at any time by selecting the 'Return to Statistics Menu' link at the bottom of each page. It provides a quick method of returning to the main page if you have been browsing several pages within a particular category.
